Osmanthus fragrans seeds mature in March, variously known as sweet osmanthus, sweet olive, tea olive, and fragrant olive, is an evergreen shrub or small tree reaching a height of 3 - 12 m,  native to Asia from the Himalayas through southern China (Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan) to Taiwan and southern Japan. Leaves are 7 - 15 cm long and 2.6 - 5 cm broad. Osmanthus frgrans flowers are colored from white, pale yellow, yellow, orange yellow to red, with a four-lobed corolla 5 mm diameter, and have a strong fragrance.

    Osmanthus fragrans var. semperflorens: flowers in Feb, May, Aug and November, in color of whitish yellow. Fragrance is weaker than the other cultivars.

    Omanthus fragrans flowers are usually collected and dried naturally, then added to tea, white wine, cuisine, cookies, perfumes etc for its fragrance. It's also cultivated in gardens or residential areas or personal yards for its attractive canopy and nice fragrance when blooming.
