- Trees or shrubs to 20 m tall; trunk to 20 cm or more d.b.h.; bark dark reddish brown, peeling in strips. Leafy branchlets obovate, obtriangular, or ± rectangular in outline, plane, (4-)5-21 × (3-)7-20 cm.
